Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in the United States. Her work has earned her recognition by the media and for her television work since the 1980s. Her accolades include the two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was raised by her aunt in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Her birthplace was and raised at home in New York New York. Bassett as well as her sister, and their mother relocated to St. Petersburg Florida when Bassett was 5 years old. The father of the family had split from the mother of their children. Bassett was inspired to become an actor after watching the stage play Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, starring James Earl Jones. In the year 1980, Bassett was graduated from Yale University New Haven Connecticut with an undergraduate degree in African American studies. She earned a diploma from the Yale School of Drama. In 1997, she was married Courtney B. Vance who was a fellow actor. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree of African American studies, in 1980.
